Lauri Meriläinen, at Jatkoaika, reports that former OKC Barons forward Philippe Cornet will return to HPK for the 2018-19 season. Cornet’s signing adds some much-needed scoring input following HPK’s unsuccessful 2017-18 season which has prompted a retooling of their roster.
Following Cornet’s 2016 championship season with the Norwegian Stavanger Oilers, he previously signed with HPK for the 2016-17 season, playing 30 games until an injury forced him to sit out the remainder of that season, as well as HPK’s 2017 playoffs. Cornet completed his abbreviated HPK season as the second best goal scorer on the team’s roster.
Late into the 2017-18 season Cornet, then fully recovered, rejoined the Stavanger Oilers in Norway, playing 18 regular season games and 5 playoff games, with a total of 10 goals and 12 assists.
More details will follow as HPK releases their official roster announcements.
