ECHL Western Conference copy

After the Thanksgiving holiday break we are back this week to take a look at the Western Conference ECHL teams after completing their eighth weekend. The trending news in the ECHL is the streaking Missouri Mavericks who remain at the top of the ECHL league with a solid 39 points, widening the gap between themselves and the rest of the league. The Mavericks are now 7 points in front of the 2nd ranked Florida Everblades at 32 points.

A part of Missouri’s success this season is their goaltending and defense. The Mavericks’ Goals against Average is 1.58 which leads the league, followed by Adirondack at 1.81. Missouri’s Parker Milner is the ECHL’s top ranked goalie with a 0.944 save percentage and Josh Robinson follows in 3rd with 0.931 SAV%. Missouri’s goal differential is +38, followed by Florida with a +31.

Midwest Division:

The Quad City Mallards have ousted the Cyclones out of 1st place in the Midwest Division with their 5 game win streak post-Thanksgiving. At the opposite end of the rankings the Indy Fuel ended the weekend with their 7th straight loss, including one overtime loss against Quad City.

Central Division:

Missouri maintains a huge lead in the Central Division, with Allen following in 2nd, 11 points behind the Mavericks. Two weeks ago Tulsa and Wichita were battling it out for 3rd position however Wichita has now moved into far distant 4th with only 13 points. In Wichita’s 12 games in November the team only won 2, with a record of 2-9-0-1, and they currently stand at 6-13-0-1, last place in the ECHL league overall.

West Division:

The Utah Grizzlies remain at the top of the West Division with 24 points, followed by Rapid City with 22 points. The Rush have been steadily improving since their disastrous start to the season. The Alaska Aces have jumped into 3rd after their early November ugly 8-game losing streak.

Things to watch this week:

Missouri’s win streak is currently at 14 following their most recent 5-2 win against the Wichita Thunder on Saturday (Dec. 5th). The Mavericks next game will be Sunday, December 13th, against the Tulsa Oilers and the Oilers would very much like to defeat their former CHL rival. Will the Mavericks expand their winning streak to 15? Watch their game vs. Tulsa this coming Sunday afternoon.
