ECHL Western Conference copy

As the Western Conference ECHL teams complete their fifth weekend the Missouri Mavericks, with two wins this week, remain at the top of the Western Conference with 21 points, however they move down into 2nd overall in the ECHL, replaced by the Florida Everblades with 22 points.

Midwest Division: With the exception of Fort Wayne, the Midwest Division did fairly well this week. Cincinnati added 5 points with 2 wins and 1 overtime loss to move up to the top of their Midwest Division with 16 points. Indy Fuel won both of their games this weekend, and Quad City picked up 4 points with 2 wins and 1 loss. Evansville picked up 1 win and 2 losses, however the Fort Wayne Komets lost both games and remain at 12 points.

Central Division: Missouri won both of their games this week, picking up 4 points to keep them in the lead of the Western Conference. Despite Allen’s odd weekend, the Americans won three of their four games this week and added 6 points for a total of 20 points however they still trail Missouri’s 21 points. Out of 4 games the Wichita Thunder picked up 3 points with only 1 win, 2 losses and 1 shootout loss. Tulsa picked up 1 point in their two games – 1 loss and 1 shootout loss, for a total of 9 points overall.

West Division: Utah, the West Division’s leader, picked up 4 points in 3 games keeping them well ahead of the remainder of the division with 17 points. Rapid City, now ranked 2nd, stopped their 3-game losing skid on Saturday with their 2-0 shutout against Utah, following their overtime 5-4 loss to Utah the night before adding 3 points to give them a total of 11 points. Idaho Steelheads and Alaska both lost all 3 games this week, however each was able to pick up 1 point in overtime. Colorado’s showing in Allen this weekend was a good boost for the team, adding 2 points, however they still rank last in the West division with 9 points.

Things to watch this week:

The Western Conference have 24 games this coming week and Tuesday’s Allen Americans at Missouri Mavericks should be a must watch game.

In-depth Glimpse into Western Conference –

Every team has a horrible night now and then, but very few of those nights end as Allen’s did this last Saturday. Allen set a record for their worst loss in history as the Colorado Eagles shellacked the Allen Americans 8-1 on Saturday, November 14th. The Eagles’ Jesse Mychon tallied a hat trick for a 5-point game and Joe Zarbo ended the night with 2 goals and an assist, and the Eagles capitalized on 2 of their 5 powerplay opportunities. The lone Allen goal was from Ian Schultz. The two teams met again on Sunday afternoon and Allen was able to come away with a close 4-3 win to help soften the blow from the previous night.
