Until Tulsa’s shorthanded goal in the middle 3rd period the Wichita Thunder had a great chance at moving on last night as severe thunderstorms rolled through Wichita. The Thunder played some of the best aggressive hockey all season and managed to outshoot the Tulsa Oilers 40 to 26. However in the end it all came down to the last-minute of the game and Tulsa got the upperhand along with their 4th playoff position with a 4-2 win.

After the Thunder’s six game losing streak at the end of March the team pushed themselves back into contention and gave it everything they had to defeat the Allen Americans and the Brampton Beast. And last night the team came out even stronger with great pressure against an offensively strong Tulsa team.

Wichita fans have to be disappointed with the season, however they should also remember that their team never gave up, not even against the highest odds at the end. As a hockey fan that’s all I’ve ever asked of my teams — Never Give Up. Even when the odds are the worst, even when it seems there are no chances, just never give up. And that is exactly what the Thunder did the past three games and especially last night.

Even though the team has been eliminated from the playoffs with their loss last night Wichita fans should be very proud of this team. If you were one of the few who were able to make the game last night with severe storms moving through, you witnessed a great game. An Outstanding Game! It was one of those games that is so good that you never want a shootout to decide it.

To the Wichita Thunder team, you gave it your best and that’s all anyone can ask. You went out fighting and playing the best hockey of the season! Don’t forget that. And be proud of the end of your season. From someone who has watched every game this season and followed your ups and downs, “Well Done!”
