Shaybu ShaybuWe saw this fun video debut late last year as we prepared for the Sochi Olympics, but it is time to revisit this catchy little song (by Russian pop star Irina Allegrova) since team Russia plays tomorrow (7:30 am Eastern time on MSNBC for those in the US.) There is no doubt that the Russian team has loads of talent, some are even predicting they take home the gold. Will it be Russia? Perhaps team Sweden? USA? or Canada? I have to admit if team USA doesn’t win, I’m voting for team Russia to win Gold at home in Sochi. Wайба, шайба!

Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Ilya Kovalchuk, Alex Radulov, Nikolai Kulemin, Pavel Bure, and even Vladislav Tretiak appear in the video, singing their hearts out for Russia’s Gold.

“Wайба, шайба” “Shaybu, Shaybu”

Translated as “Puck, Puck” – which is a classic Russian hockey chant.
First verse and chorus translated by Dmitry Chesnokov.

Sometimes there are miracles in this world.
And as if it is a joke,
That the best game for our men
By accident was born in Canada.
To the battle on ice
Everyone had that passion. That ancient passion.

Shaybu! Shaybu!
The victory is ours.
Shaybu! Shaybu!
Guys, we are with you.
And if it’s really needed, we will score another
Shaybu! Shaybu!
Russia is behind you.
Shaybu! Shaybu!
Guys, you are the strength!

We are the Russian team,
We are the Red Machine!
We are the Red Machine!
