As a minor league fan you must become accustomed to trades and releases within the organization, but, as we all know, that’s very difficult. Yesterday the Edmonton Oilers traded OKC Barons goaltender Olivier Roy as part of a package deal with Ladislav Smid to the Calgary Flames in return for the minor league players Czech forward Roman Horak and goaltender Laurent Brossoit. Welcome to the organization to both of those fellows, and farewell to Olivier Roy.
For the past two seasons I have photographed Olivier’s goalie masks and he has always been happy to participate and answer any questions I had about his masks and designs. I will miss him greatly. Part of watching the minor leagues is the enjoyment you get from watching these young players develop. Some nights it’s heartbreaking, and other nights you feel like proud parents of these young boys, but no matter what, you cheer for them and hope for the best in their careers.
We are wishing you all the best Olivier! Good luck and you will always have fans here in OKC.
