Ralph Waldo Emerson — “Life is a journey, not a destination.”

As a firm believer in Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote “Life is a journey, not a destination,” a journey, even to a hockey game, has infinite possibilities — even an eight hour drive to Des Moines for another team’s inaugural opening weekend. October is the perfect time to journey through the great plains states of Oklahoma and Kansas with their mix of golden brown short and tall grass prairies. And as you head north from Kansas City, the cornfields begin to fill the miles — miles after miles after miles — but don’t let that stop you from heading north to Des Moines. The covered bridges and hockey are impressive, and the Iowa Wild should be a fun team to watch this season with Kurt Kleinendorst at the helm.

Enjoy a hockey road trip this season! At the moment, I’m in Florida for yet another hockey road trip — well, let’s be honest — more of a vacation with a small mix of hockey tossed in over the long weekends.
