“Defenseman Colten Teubert’s slap shot from the top of the faceoff circle 5 minutes and 40 seconds into the third period broke a 2-2 tie and sent the Barons to a 3-2 win over the Rampage at AT&T Center on Friday.
The Barons square their record at 1-1 with the home opener Saturday 7 pm CDT at the Cox Convention Center against the Texas Stars.
David LeNeveu earned the win in net, stopping 32 of 34 Rampage shots. Brian Foster made 20 saves in the loss.
Oklahoma City led 2-1 after one period, with Ryan O’Marra scoring the team’s first goal of the season 1:46 after the opening faceoff into a partially vacated net on assists from Mark Arcobello and Hunter Tremblay.
Bracken Kearns scored an unassisted goal from the deep slot on a power play to tie the score 1-1 at 11:15, but Josh Green countered on a two-man advantage from the top of the circle to put the Barons in front on setups from Ryan Keller and Bryan Helmer at 12:18
The Rampage’s Scott Timmins tied the game 2-2 at 12:25 of the second, converting a 2-on-1 seconds after a San Antonio penalty expired.
Both team were 1-for-7 on the power play.”
